Keyur Sorathia is currently working as Associate Professor in Department of Design (DoD), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. He founded EILab around 5 years ago and currently heads this lab. Currently he leads a team of 10 researchers-students working on variety of HCI topics. His main interest areas are exploring novel interaction methods and experimenting HCI advances for societal innovations. He holds a PhD in gestural interfaces for resource-scarce regions. He has a background of Electrical Engineering and has masters in Interaction Design. His current focus is on developing new interaction methods for flexible devices and use of augmented & virtual reality interfaces in vocational training and education in resource constrained environment. He is also found writing proposals, setting the vision and strategy for projects and building industry and government collaborations. He currently takes courses on interaction design, physical computing and tangible user interfaces for undergraduate and graduate students. He looks after placements for DoD students and also heading departmental undergraduate program committee, library committee and faculty advisor for undergraduate students. When not working, he is found on sports field or listening to an audio book. He also loves playing on playstation move, kinect or playing carrom or trying his weak skills on chess. He loves hanging around with his lab mates.
