|SNIBBLE - SEX EDUCATION IN A NIBBLE WAY|
Sex Education has remained a point of concern in the recent past in India, more specifically, integrating it as a part of the regular curriculum for formal education. India however, continues to face alarming statistics related to teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Snibble, a cross platform digital gaming application to provide sex education among university students in India. It aims to fill the information gaps and clear myths / misconceptions in the areas of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), bodily changes in the adolescents and prevention techniques (of what?). It also tested the knowledge of Indian university students who have some information about sex education through prior exposure. Extensive literature research on the work in this and related fields is presented here. A survey was conducted across 96 students (48 male, 48 female) in the age group of 18-22 years to analyze their knowledge levels. One-to-one interviews were conducted with a doctor and a students’ counselor to understand STI and STD, gather details about existing problems, needs and possible design interventions into the problem, and the critical areas in this field. A digital game, which can run on multiple platforms was designed, implemented and evaluated with students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati.
