ANNOUNCEMENT WORKSHOP ON “DESIGN THINKING"
The workshop on “Design Thinking and Team Building” was aimed to imbibe a systematic problem solving process and learning methods of designing creative and innovative solutions. The workshop also built a framework for team members from different sections to work together efficiently, effectively and through defined roles and responsibilities. The workshop was conducted through interactive and practice-based learning methods instead of passive lecture based sessions. It included fun sessions to introduce team members, games such as treasure hunt to find a problem defined for the workshop. Moreover, it included physical and brain activities to refresh their current working methods and motivation in professional working environment. The participants worked on a problem together to learn about defining concrete and clear problem, defining actionable objectives, creative ideation techniques, techniques to move from ideas to concrete concepts and sharing expectation exchanges. The expectation exchanges taught team members to define clear roles and responsibilities for each team member and helped in resolving team conflicts.
The workshop was attended by 27 participants from the Finance Department of Govt. of Assam. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Keyur Sorathia who is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Design at IIT Guwahati. He runs Embedded Interaction Lab (EI Lab) that focuses on building digital technologies for societal innovation among resource-constrained users.
